First English Lutheran Church of Centerville, South Dakota

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise and rejoice and sing praise! -Psalm 98:4

Joyful Noise will be offered by First English Lutheran Church from January 27-March 17, 2010. It is an eight-week music class for children from birth through kindergarten and their parents. The class will focus on music as a wonderful gift from God, emphasizing such fundamentals as pitch and rhythm. Children will gain a good foundation for later musical study and enjoyment as they sing, move, and play simple instruments.

Classes will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:30 in the lower level of First English, beginning January 27. A $10 materials fee per family will provide each family with a storybook, CD, and rhythm instrument to keep. In case of financial need, the fee will be waived.

The class will be taught by Amy Redhage, wife of Pastor Daniel Redhage and a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the Cleveland Institute of Music. She taught private and group violin lessons as well as school orchestra in Fort Wayne, Indiana, before moving to Centerville in June 2006. She has enjoyed attending preschool music classes with her own children for several years, and would like to offer them to the Centerville area as well.
